Eclectic Update Nov. 2024
Knee vs. DMSO, Carbon use tracking and more! Oh boy!
Let’s start with my knee. After riding my bike for type first time in around 3 months and taking a 2K walk with the cane, I stayed at home and mostly at the table for all of Friday and Saturday. The soreness just below the knee cap that I stopped bothering me is back. Unsurprisingly as it was aggravated by the bike ride. Started back after several pumps up hill. The biggest concern through is the torque I applied to the knee to get on and off the bike.
Improvement continued on Saturday but how much is known only through lack of pain and soreness as I did not exercise it much. Same with Saturday. However, I forgot to treat it until 5 pm. It is no longer front and center of my consciousness. Not until I twisted it again while doing dishes and banged it hard against the table. These did not help and are likely contributing to the pain I have now. I think the fact that I am no longer favoring that leg is a sign that it is no longer painful or sore enough to constantly remind that I need to take extra care of it. However, I do still need to be careful and need to remind myself be.
Woke up today feeling like shite. Nowhere near enough sleep this week and had to get up early to take the 5th grader to a test but was rudely awakened around 4:30 by the cat throwing up. My wife shook me, I heard the ell tale sound and realized the cat was on me. Got her off the bed in time, but had a mess to clean up. The kid is taking the test now and I am having coffee at a coffee house waiting for them to finish. The one thing that did not hurt this morning was my knee. I went down the stairs normally and thought nothing of it until I reached the 1st floor and realized that I came down normally and with zero pain. Knee felt fine until riding the crammed and over crowded tram to the testing site and back again to the main station as there is no a thing near it to spend several hours as I wait. Both knees hurt as does most of my body. Too little sleep during the weather change, not good. Hopefully I can get to bed early tonight.
Due to the intervention of life, I have not responded to several replies that I intended to. One that I can recall the content is the recommendation to use a compression sleeve for the knee. Until I started treating it DMSO this was a no go. The slightest touch, even that of my pant leg caused intense pain. Now, I am looking into it. Thanks. There are others that I fear are lost in the various threads. Sorry.
Track and trace come to carbon foot prints.
Below are two screen shots. The first is from a promotional email I received quite some time ago. The one on the right is a CO2 sensor. The next is a from my train route app. Notice that the first is the most “Eco friendly” as indicated by the “eco” leaf icon that I highlighted in green. Highlighted in yellow are the carbon footprint indicators.

I have not noticed these before but I also have not used this app for at least a month. The day when we are controlled in part by our carbon footprints is fast approaching. It will be part of the social credit system that is already in use. We had better find a way to stop this and fast.
Several years ago I “joined” LinkedIn. I have used it very little but keep getting notifications from it. Recently I received the following from LinkedIn. Why in the world the world would LinkedIn think I would be interested in following these folks?
In a similar vein, last week I received a catalogue for textbooks from one of the many publishers of such for Japanese learners of English. One complete textbook on that favored topic of one and all, SDGs. Yeah. And there was much rejoicing. They continue to press forward. Tempted to request a copy just to see what BS they are peddling. I do not want to add to demand for it though. Haven’t decided. It is free, but still.
As always, there was more I wanted to post about but I do not recall at the moment. Been at this coffee house for 2 hours, going to move to another.

Just in case you missed it, have you started the glucosamine chondroitin yet?
Thank you for keeping us informed - I don't know where you find the energy/time but I guess waiting in a coffee shop is perfect. I've been using the knee compression sleeve off and on for awhile now. When the pain gets intense it really helps. Last night I got to cupping - for some reason that takes away the pain 100% but I can't keep them on all night. Just enough to let me get back to sleep, slip on the sleeve and grab a few zzzzzs. Not getting enough sleep is definitely not helpful and you have a LOT of stresses in your life. Please take it easy Kitsune. Don't try to rush anything. The knee needs time to readjust, gently. I understand the eagerness though. For some reason every time I get back on my bike it really aggravates everything. Hope you get a good nights' sleep. 🛌
