More odds and ends.

Yesterday, May 21, 2023, the 9 year old had a swim meet.  As it was at a swim school, there was not room for spectators so parents were not allowed to attend.  We had to drop our little swimmer off at the train station at 6:15 am.  A total of 9 children from 2nd though 4th grade represented their swim school.  6 wore masks as did the two coaches.  All the other parents were also masked.

Last night I was working ahead in our new textbook for the medical school.  Below are two pics I took of the text of an upcoming lesson

Just learned that the masked teacher I saw in the elevator last week is back in the States. Her mother’s funeral. I and the other unmasked teacher will each have half of her students join our class while she is away. Not sure if the other teacher is always unmasked, as I am. In the past he has never displayed any evidence of having a backbone, so I was shocked to see him maskless on the first day of class. Regardless, word will certainly be out that I teach my classes bare faced.

Here is a photo I took this morning on the train. It is an advertisement for a dental surgery clinic to fix the “mouthpiece” as effectively as covering it with a mask. This may have been what I saw last week that I took to be a add for cosmetics.

Far more masked than unmasked on the train this morning but seemed to be more unmasked than last Monday.

I meant to include the following in my eclectic update last week but forgot to do so. Distractions are getting harder for me to deal with.

One of my few private students is also my boss at the nursing school. She brought up “PC” for us to discuss. I learned from her that the rewriting of everything written before the era of woke is being given a wokeover. New word: “wokeover” is when something or someone is worked over until it conforms with current woke ideas. Words that were once commonly used are being bleeped out. They are even being bleeped out of yakuza movies. I guess even the bad guys must also be seen to be kind to the underprivileged. As with the erasing of anything not white and woke from the US, a term once used for those born with certain birth defects is now disallowed. A famous author and artists afflicted with this condition has publicly stated that he has never been offended by the term and has never run across anyone who has been. While SDG statements are omnipresent here, I have yet to run across “DEI”. However, the concepts of DEI are discoverable everywhere and have been for a number of years. But I did not know that they have already been bleeping out words the woke idgits take offense to.

Despite telling mostly disinterested people that it is later than we think, I myself continue to be shocked to learn how far this madness has progressed. Time is quickly and quietly running out.
