Surreality.
An invented word for invented crises.
Surreality. Surreality is the condition under which we are all living. We are concerned with where we are heading without recognizing that we are already there. Surreality. I recently heard some unusually well plugged in people state that we are heading for a time in the US when parents will lose their children if they do not allow them to affirm their chosen gender identity. They went on to say to look for this in “blue” states. However, just a few months ago, a family in Indiana, a “red” state, lost custody of their child for not using the child’s preferred pronouns. This is not the first case of this I have heard of. Yet we worry of it happening in the future. Surreality.
Long has the English language had the idiom “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic”. The reality, the surreality we are living under is better described with the following, flawed analogy. While the awake not woke among us speak of a horrible future that awaits us, many have already suffered it and others are suffering it in much the same way as 1st class passengers of the Titanic beginning to think that there is danger at a time when the 3rd class passengers, engineers and postal clerks have already perished and the second class passengers are drowning.
I submit to you that most of us awakes (can we bring back the title of “Wide Awakes”?) are 1st class passengers on our ship. We warn of ESG, DEI, SDG, 5G, CBDC, universal government surveillance, eat ze bugs as if these are possible or even likely in the future. We use the future tense when speaking of these. ESG, DEI and SDG are already here, up and running; just not yet in full swing for individuals. The 5G infrastructure is currently under construction and most likely already in use just not universally….yet. The EU has already approved insects as food additives and ignoring laws requiring all ingredients to be on the packaging label. They are all ready manufacturing “food” made of or with bugs. But they have progressed even further. Discovered today in Tokyo as I choose to walk the distance between two train stations instead of taking the train.
First, I chanced upon this.
This what is on the menu.
QR codes, if you wish to crawl aboard the band…um…bug wagon.
A block away form the vending machine is this bug cafe. I had to wait for two Western tourists to finish so that I could take this photo. On the barrel tables we see the kanji for “Bug” on the left and “Sake/alcohol” on the right. Get yer bugs and drink in on stop!
Consider this actual reality as we learn of more and more damage and destruction to our food supply chain; from producing, transporting, storage, selling and receiving. Consider it too when we learn that rice cultivation has recently been called out as a major contributor to global warming, or whatever term they are currently using for that fraud. We know they are pushing artificial meat.
On the main topic of my substack, masks are still worn by all in my nursing school and one of my vocational schools and by most in the other vocational school. Many places still have the signs up telling of the requirements to mask, sanitize hands, take your temperature, maintain social distancing, open windows for air circulation while having barriers between individuals to prevent air from circulating and not to talk…even in oral communication classes.
I saw more closed businesses in the area I walked today that I have ever seen in my 20 plus years living in Japan surpassing even when we were under lockdown lite despite the huge numbers of foreign tourists that we have recently been seeing in increasing numbers since Japan reopened. The damage has been done. Too much water has been allowed to enter the hull, patching the hole will not keep us afloat.
This is not a “new normal. There is nothing normal about any of this. It is surreality: an invented word for invented crises.
Enjoy ze bugs. They are packaged and ready to ship.
(P.S. Jimmy, surreality beat you to the punch line again.)

I remember the days of watching the show Survivor and wanting to opt out of the reward challenge when bugs were on the menu. Now it looks like we are all getting encouraged, and not by an overly tan man wearing a choker, but pasty pontificating "pundits" who know better than we do what is best for us.
At the very least, this is not a Government FOR AND BY THE PEOPLE is it? Did any of sign up for this?
It is a Monty Python universe where the funny is serious. We didn't vote for these people. They were appointed. Did anyone of us vote to create the WEF? Did anyone of us get a say when the memo came in that the CCP had the right idea in their approach to the virus?
And yes, I would be the first to say that things are probably working as intended. That while we angrily kick the dirt saying that masks were ridiculous, that the vaccine mandates are absurd, the theater of the absurd moves to the next thing...which we will be arguing about while they continue blowing up different parts of society still standing.
Ugh!
