Among the scary realities reveled in the article linked to above is this (emphasis added); “a FULL 16% of all payments in 2013 were made in case, down 2% from 2022.”. We, who prefer to use cash account for so little, a FULL 16% of payments last year in the US, down 2% from the previous year. Folks, TPTB need not do anything and in short order there will be no place we can use cash anyway.
“Reverse ATMs”! Oh my. This is worse than having to buy token instead of using quarters at the arcade. This is just an intermediary step to full cashless.

I can't recall who came up with this ingenious solution, but basically make sure that you have the exact changes, including taxes, to pay. Leave the cash and take the item. They may not like I, but it's legal tender.
