Absolutely horrible about the owner/operators of the antique store. Each time I go in to Tokyo or even around my suburb of half a million, I see more and more empty store fronts and entire buildings. And, more common of late, empty lots, the buildings that once stood upon them torn down. This true even in Akihabara, where I used to work.
It seem that we are hearing more ambulances too but we live in a big city near several hospitals and clinics. Sirens have long faded into the background sounds here, so it is hard to say. However, in a small town of several hundred to hear two a day is really something.
Thanks for the link. Recently I saw that sick days from work increased after each shot and booster campaign. These would certainly be felt more in a society that has long had a below replacement level birth rate like Japan.
In the States it is at least in part due to federal aid to throes who lost their jobs. Japan is still a question, but may be due to the ¥1,030,000 wall and the long term low birth rate catching up with us. Do you know the reasons behind Canada’s staff shortages?
Sorry, for some reason I didn't get notification of your comment. It's almost impossible to get comprehensive and accurate government data in Canada anymore. But yes, certainly some people dropped out to collect federal aid.
Here's an update to Ed Dowd's data, which is specific to the US but also applicable to Canada.
The truth about excess vaccine-related deaths in Japan is also starting to trickle out. The following link doesn't even really address vaccine injuries, many of which are so bad that people can no longer participate in the workforce.
I frequent a nearby town of about 30,000 population in Hokkaido. What I learned was the "happening" part of town is now nearly a ghost town with a few "snack" dive bars, many of which are struggling or closed down. The antique shop we often went to shut down abruptly a couple months ago. We learned from their neighbour that the two owners both died suddenly (they don't know if it was suicide or what) over Christmas.
In my little dinky town of a few hundred people I've been hearing at least 2 ambulances a day, almost daily, for the past months. One day I counted 5.

Could also be due to C19 shots. Take, for example, Germany:

I forgot to mention that staff shortages are also a big problem in Canada. I'd recommend Ed Dowd's book, CAUSE UNKNOWN.

For example, Canadian physician mortality has been skyrocketing:
