In Jewish folklore, there are a few archetypes. Two of the most notable are the schlemiel and the shlemazel. The schlemiel is the clumsy person who messes things up. The shlemazel is the person who, through no fault of his own, gets the misfortune. As the joke goes, the schlemiel spills his soup and it lands on the shlemazel. Unfortunately, my friend, you seem to have been born under the sign of the shlemazel.
Not to make light of what has clearly been a long series of painful experiences, but it makes me think of Albert King's blues classic, "Born Under a Bad Sign."
