I have not resolved my own knee issues yet, consistency of application being a big deal.
But my 15 yo dog seems to be feeling way better. He has been dosed once daily with 5 or 6 drops since last Saturday. He reeks after application. I can taste the smell when holding him!
He has even walked less begrudgingly than usual. Not once has he been hunched from severe pain.
Great news about the knee, you may be pushing it, but just a little.
Just because the pain and inflammation is mostly removed, doesn't mean it is healed. That will take longer. Are you taking Glucosamine - Chordrotiin compels also? This may speed healing of the cartilage at a minor increase in the pain level at first.
Years ago, I started running a pharmacy in a small town, no Doctor was available, and one patient, Mrs Frances, the wife of the store owner Mr Bobby, (millionaire, 8 grocery stores) came in with a knee that wouldn’t stop hurting. Asked her what she had taken and and she presented me with a big list of NSAIDs,. Every one of them known to cause a slowdown in healing, particularly cartilage.
I had her discontinue those, and started her up on glucosamine chondroitin, I mentioned it was going to hurt a bit more, and she should limit its activity, maybe even wear a brace to remind her it is healing.
I stressed to limit the NSAIDs as much as possible because they will impede healing. She asked me why the specialist gave me so many of them, my reply was that is what the trained him to do, it benefits his bottom line and theirs. I warned her it may be slow going at first, but she should at least try it for a month to see if it improves. She said 6 months ago she injured it, and has been struggling ever since, I warned her, it may need surgery but probably not.
Literally, 5 weeks later, she came in all smiles, “Two weeks ago I couldn’t help it, I started working in the garden, just a couple of hours at first, but I am literally working in it 6 to 8 hours a day, and loving it. I need some more pills, took the last ones the morning.”
The next day, Mr Bobby came in, all smiles just like his wife, “I knew putting this pharmacist in here would pay off one day, but I didn't’t expect it to be so soon. I just came by to shake your hand, young fella.”
I have been needing some rack time myself. I thought "they" were going to do it again. I would wake up and see a different result. All Quiet on the Western Front for now. Let's not get complacent.
While I have used DMSO only for the knee, it was already on my list for things to look into given its other indications. Which, perhaps a bit ironically, led me to doubt its usefulness against knee injury by applying to the skin. Seeing how well it is working. I am going to continue reading up on its other uses and think it should be in every medicine cabinet and first aid kit.
Hi Kitsune…so glad to hear about your progress…and I am inspired to recommend DMSO to a friend with chronic shoulder pain. Thank you. It angers me too, as a medical doctor that we have been trained to just prescribe meds.
I also read a comment in another Substack post from a man who wrote that he would apply DMSO directly on the penis if he gets prostate cancer.
Sorry, but perhaps my limited layman’s memory of anatomy is off, but is that close enough to probate to work?
Especially if nothing else is working, try the DMSO. Please read the cautions. I have had some rather bad burning sensation when not careful of having the areas I want to apply it completely clean. Mainly after a bath with bath salt. I have not had this problem, but I have read that it will carry detergent, fabric softener and dye from clothing if any is worn too soon after application.
Seriously, this stuff is unbelievable! Please share the results.
The prostate gland is close enough to the upper part of the penis so maybe it will work…I don’t know if anyone has tried it…and the person who posted that comment is against prostatectomy…the common approach to Prostate cancer.
I have no doubt they tried. We know of many cases of shenanigans being pulled this time too. This time, the RNC was to charge in. In one case, the dems locked out republican poll watchers, an old favorite of theirs that goes back years. RNC came with the police and they were let in.
Yes, I am sure they tried as well. They probably succeeded in some areas. I do fell there is more to this story than we will ever know. The opponent conceded too easily. Perhaps our orange friend has the goods on some people and is using it as leverage.
And T picked up huge numbers of Catholics, Jews and Muslims and 89,000 Amish registered to vote for the first time. A county on the border that is 97% Hispanic voted 75% for T. The first time they have voted republic in 100 and some years. But donchya ever forget, T is the great divider.
Volksempfänger. The radio that was used in Germany in the 30s and 40s, I am probably repeating myself but I will repeat it again because it makes sense to me more and more every day. The radio had a limited range so it couldn't pick up foreign signals. It was also cheap and easy to get. I can't help but to compare CNN, MSNBC, NHK and their ilk to Volksempfänger. Another thing I often repeat is 97%, the hypothetical percentage of the population that would supported the Nazis if they were there and then. I think this is accurate and this number has gotten me to question my own beliefs. This all became clear to me when I stopped watching TV and heard the things friends and family members were saying.
About the Amish, that's one of the most awesome things I have heard in a long time. The funny thing is that many of the things I have mentioned in my silly little stories/articles would later make the news: Robert DeNiro having a meltdown followed by the Russian Orthodox church catching fire the day after DeNiro's meltdown. There's a long list of coincidences which are probably just coincidences but sometimes I think someone is guiding me in the right direction, albeit an extremely silly one.
I don't read it either, it just were the easiest accessible map around. But, they have a paywall for people in the US to see the US election results?? That's an odd decision on their part.
Even better than the actual results, in case you neither had heard of it, if Trump gets the popular vote then the D's National Popular Vote Bill would mean all D-states, except Virginia & New Hampshire who has yet to pass it, would have to give their electoral votes to Trump!
I was hauling a lot of heavy items last week and really buggered up my left shoulder to the point where I couldn't even lift my arm above my head, the pain was so intense. Have started applying DMSO. It's only been a few days and the shoulder is still quite painful but my range of motion improved within minutes of the first treatment, allowing me to lift the arm above my head!
I've been re-reading your posts about your use of DSMO to get a sense of what to expect. This stuff truly seems miraculous.
While I am sorry you injured your shoulder, I am elated that DMSO is helping. The biggest immediate change with my knee was also being able to bend it.
I have not applied the formulation with the aloe gel daily for long so I can’t say this for certain, but it may cause less skin irritation than the 50/50, DMSO/water solution.
I've been using the liquid that's 90% 99% DSMO and 10% purified water since Wednesday. For the first three days I applied it once a day with my fingers after my morning shower. It does burn, but the sensation is tolerable. Unfortunately, I slipped on a patch of mud yesterday, hitting the ground hard and jarring my entire body. For moment, I thought I might pass out, the pain was so intense. Today I also applied it in the evening, and now the skin is a bit red, but I'm desperate to get some sleep.
Glad to hear that you are experiencing relief from your symptoms. And if indeed it is something along the lines of chronic tendinitis this may have a degree of durability.
At the same time if there is something structurally deficient, be it a torn tendon or ligament, or perhaps a loss of cartilage in the joint (the dreaded "bone on bone" situation) then the symptoms may return. Hope not! But if it is say osteoarthritis for example, take a peek at the 24:30 mark of this video for five minutes where the speaker discusses the challenges of OA and some options for restoration of health to the tissue or at bare minimum management of the symptoms (and after all, we just want things to stop hurting mainly)....https://youtu.be/wXh6FPz7wOg?si=wUvq39et6FItydZf
By the way if this is indeed an overuse condition then too much too soon may provide some challenges. Our bodies take longer to recover as we age. Maybe just do the bike for a bit to restore the regular flexion of the knee and save the walking until later. Or at least break them up so that your body has a chance to repair the microtrauma associated with regular exercise....
Wishing continued good luck! Headed for Tokyo on the 20th for ten days, looking forward to it as always
I am quite certain that there is damage. It was a twist far worse than anything I had ever experienced in the past. If it were my right knee, my wife would have had to drive home. The way my knee is responding to the DMSO and am now hopeful it can be repaired without a visit to the hospital.
Walking normally does not bother the knee at all. Wobbly pavement blocks sure can through. Bending it can too and pedaling up hill brought back pain I had not had for the previous two days. The torque on the knee when mounting and dismounting is problematic. I am thinking I need to wait a bit more before riding again.
After the workout on Thursday, riding my bike for the first time in 3ish months and walking without the cane for 2K, I rested all day Friday and Saturday. While still somewhat sore from time to time, it bothered me so little that it wasn’t until 5 pm that I remembered to treat it. I also twisted it slightly again and banged it really good against the table. Not good, not good at all. After hitting the table, it has been more sore than it has been. However, these indicate to me a lack of care born out of the pain loss so great that I am not longer constantly reminded that I have a knee injury and am no longer favoring it. That is a good sign, but I need to remember to remain careful.
sorry somehow I just saw your reply. I was all over tokyo - eight hotels in 11 nights. not optimal. I come over there mainly to see my favorite band Band-Maid and then build out a schedule around their shows. They played two nights at Zepp Haneda so those were easy, I scheduled hotels next door. But shoot I was Aoyama one night and Asakusa 2-3 nights at the beginning and then again at the end.
the key as we age is to allow the body time to repair itself. So optimally don't push things on back to back days if it can be avoided. By all means test the tissue and continue treating in between workouts and/or heavier duty activity - but where we get in trouble at this age is "powering through" multiple days in a row and the body just doesn't have time to repair itself in between
Strange how these things seem to come out of nowhere. Until a couple of months ago I had never heard of DMSO and then I read or watched something proclaiming its miraculous properties but was sceptical. But I like the fact that it was at least claimed to be natural. Then more recently read something saying it’s nothing like natural and highly toxic. And now I read this. At least I have time to continue to research this magic potion as I have no ailments that might benefit from it. Please keep us posted.
Yeah, that is one of the reasons I was skeptical too. Never heard of the stuff, suddenly it is everywhere. Then someone recommends it for, of all things, an in juried knee. So I ask for more info and it floods in and people start sending me the stuff. So I try and WOW.
Now, it is a solvent. Care is required. It has given me a bit of a rash but only in a small area…and I think there is a reason for the why there though I am struggling to come up with a way to explain it. But that and the occasional burning sensation, I have had no adverse effects. There is one actually. As I put it on just before going to bed, the scent causes and almost irresistible urge to have Italian food. Not good just before bed.
Glad that I am able to add to your hopper of info to churn through.
Maybe, dunno. It’s been a loooooong time and I have been in Japan for most of that. Ironically, it was a Japanese friend in college in the states who introduced Ren and Stimpy to me. I used to say Happy Happy Joy Joy all the time, especially in the flat manner they often did, when things were not going well. Would be using it a ton these past four years had I not forgotten it. THANX!
Sweet! I used that technique myself during a long depression. When someone would ask me "how are you?" I would answer "amazing, fantastic, unbelievably great" but in a flat, monotone voice with no expression! LOL. I was trying to "fake it until I made it" sort of thing. But I've used happy, happy, joy, joy a lot too - I'd just forgotten it until today! Interesting huh? Yes, it is REN and Stimpy. Also hilarious it was a Japanese friend in the states that turned you onto R+S! 😁
That was my first thought upon reading 2 of Midwestern Doc's series: DMSO and UVBI.
I thought about all the people suffering around me. All the people I know who fell into medical disarray, and the doctors just kept throwing stuff at it until they died. My mother, my father, even my grandmother (who died in the 70's) - I watched her as she went onto the heart medications and declined from there. The same happened with my father - as soon as he went on blood thinners, he declined (though I don't know his history of statin & blood pressure drug use).
Of course, eventually we all die. But - the way they went could have been different.
It made me ANGRY. That this is not a standard medical treatment. EVERYWHERE. That babies are given a toxic Hep B shot (for STD's? Egads they were just born!) instead of UVBI....
In other news, you can reapply as often as you can bear. It's one of the reasons Midwestern Doc is unconcerned about misuse - it's not 'fun' to use, and so - you likely cannot OD.
And it is impossible to OD topically.
Please - don't push it so hard for at least 6 weeks, give it a chance to heal as much as possible. Please, this is the voice of experience.
Not sure I am pushing it at this point. The 2 KM walk was a breeze and it energized me. The most exercise I have had in almost 3 months. That is my other concern, my knee has not been flexed much in almost 3 months. It needs some movement. Also, I made the walk and rode my bike yesterday knowing that I would be home all day today. Not doing much other than awaiting delivery of castor oil to use in conjunction with the DMSO.
I rejoice at your account!
My turn next!
Please do and let us know. I hope it works the same magic for you as it is for me.
Proceed at your own pace.
No, just the DMSO. Will be adding castor oil tonight. Am really looking for things specifically for cartilage. Thanks for the recommendation.
Well it’s a game changer for many.

Thanks. I had already written it down to search for. Will certainly do so. Thanks again.
I thought of your DMSO diary when I read Dr. Mercola's substack today:
https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2024/11/08/dimethyl-sulfoxide-dmso-benefits-side-effects.aspx
Read parts of it today. Saved it, of course, for future reference.
Thanks.
This is good to hear.
I have been needing some rack time myself. I thought "they" were going to do it again. I would wake up and see a different result. All Quiet on the Western Front for now. Let's not get complacent.
I may have to try this DSMO stuff myself.

Well, there were 15 million less democrat voters this time than four years ago.
Yep. People ridiculed me when I pointed this out. One "genius" told me people were mad because of T University.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/11/05/us/elections/results-president.html
They would need ~40 electorates to vote to elect Harris instead of Trump to get their way now. The Eastern Wind is beautiful.
Thanks for posting Kim. There is a paywall and I don't really read the NYT. I do, however, like your closing line.
I don't read it either, it just were the easiest accessible map around. But, they have a paywall for people in the US to see the US election results?? That's an odd decision on their part.

It is paywalled but the same info is posted elsewhere now. Pretty amazing tho see all but one state red.
Happy to hear it's working for you! Speedy recovery!
Well, not there yet but flying at plaid speed! This stuff I’d magic, God’s gift.
Thanks.
